Calling all kids who love nature
Some awesome autumn programsare underway for our Junior and Senior Naturalists. After the hot fun-filled days of Ecology Camp, we explore the trails and notice the many changes the cooler days bring to Illinois.
As all good naturalists know, changes are happening constantly in the natural world. It’s getting outside and paying attention that helps us notice. Each monthly session will offer a different outdoor experience.
Only 25 registrantsare accepted per session. The price for three fall sessions is $40 for Garden members and $45 for nonmembers. No phone registrations will be accepted, but you can register here.
Junior Naturalists (6-9 years) meet from 9 a.m. to noon. Senior Naturalists (9-12 years) meet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday Sept. 21st…..Tree-mendous Trees: By climbing trees, sketching them, making leaf collections, and playing leaf identification games, we’ll learn more about our native trees.
Saturday Oct. 19th…..Skulls, Spiders & Bats: We’ll study those “spooky” nature things you see all around you at Halloween time. Are they really scary? Or are they just interesting animals to learn more about?
Saturday Nov. 23rd…..Native American Thanksgiving with Wild Edibles: Let’s celebrate the natural way, hiking to find edible nuts and other wild delicacies. We’ll give thanks for all the wonders of nature.
