Calling all kids who love nature

Registration is now open for the Junior and Senior Naturalist programs this fall at Lincoln Memorial Garden. (Links for online registration below.)

The programs will give young naturalists an opportunity to explore the ever-changing landscape the Garden offers. Through hands-on activities, games, and outdoor investigation participants will discover some of the autumnal changes. Dates for the sessions are October 4, November 1 and December 6.

Each session is limited to 25 registrants. The cost for the three session fall series is $40 for Garden Members and $45 for nonmembers. Unable to attend the entire 3 session series? Individual session registration is also available at a cost of $15 each for members and $18 for nonmembers. (See links below for Online registration or for mail-in form.)

Junior Naturalists (5-8 years) meet from 9 a.m. - noon. Senior Naturalists (9-12 years) meet from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. The general topics for each session are:

Saturday, October 4th- Come and Seed - Fall is the time of year when many of the Garden’s trees and plants are ripe with seeds. We will learn to identify trees by their seeds as well as how seeds move and grow.

Saturday, November 1st- Creepy, Crawly, Icky - Not every critter found in the Garden is cute and fluffy, but they are just as important as those that are. Come join us as we go in search of these sometimes hidden creatures.

Saturday, December 6th- Surviving Winter - We’ll learn about adaptations that help the Garden’s animals survive the cold Illinois winters.
