Prairie Voices at Garden October 16

Kevin Purcell will present his production of Prairie Voices at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16th, in the council ring directly west of the Garden’s Nature Center.

Prairie Voices is a collection of songs and poems that celebrate the Illinois Prairie. Over the Moon Productions actors Kevin Purcell and Aasne Vigesaa star. Virginia Hosking plays piano. The poems were written by Illinoisans Edgar Lee Masters, Carl Sandburg, and Springfield’s own Vachel Lindsay. The songs include David Mahler’s tune “Lonely Rolling River,” which has the Illinois state song embedded in it.

Prairie Voices has been presented many times to enthusiastic audiences at the Old State Capitol during the past two summers. The performance is free and will be held indoors if the weather is bad.
